Generations in Bloom: Spreading Joy and Connection with Milton Academy

On October 15, 2025, our grantee Theo’s Flowers brought their Generations in Bloom initiative to life at Milton Academy, uniting students, educators, and community partners in a heartfelt day of creativity, compassion, and intergenerational connection.

With generous support from a donor, Sean, and the thoughtful coordination of Milton’s Community Engagement Program Director, Andrea, students and advisors came together to design and assemble over 100 handcrafted floral bouquets, each accompanied by a handwritten note. These gifts of beauty and kindness were then delivered to residents at Winter Valley Assisted Living and the Memory Care unit at White Oak Cottages, where they brightened the day of elders living with dementia and memory loss.

Founded by sisters whose parents lived with Alzheimer’s disease, Theo’s Flowers was created to make a difference in the lives of elders and families affected by memory disorders. The organization repurposes flowers from celebrations and events, transforming them into new bouquets that bring joy and connection to seniors while promoting environmental sustainability through recycling and reuse.

The Generations in Bloom program—supported by a grant from the I’m Still Here Foundation—builds empathy between youth and older adults through meaningful service-learning opportunities. By writing personal notes and delivering flowers in person, students experience firsthand the power of presence, while recipients feel the joy of being remembered and valued.

Our founder, John Zeisel, was honored to join the event and witness this moving collaboration in action. We are deeply proud to support Theo’s Flowers in their mission to nurture kindness, beauty, and understanding across generations.
